Jane Raca started her career as a lawyer, becoming a partner in a national firm of solicitors in her early thirties. She was unable to continue professional life after one of her children was born with severe disabilities; she is now a writer and disability rights campaigner.

 

Her first book 'Standing Up for James' was published in 2012 and was featured in The Guardian, The Daily Mail and Woman magazine. Jane appeared on BBC Breakfast, ITV's Lorraine and on LBC radio. 

She has since written for The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph and has been featured in a short film for the BBC series 'Three Stories'.

She was awarded an MBE for her disability work in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2018.

Jane is married to Andrew, who is of Polish descent, and they have three children.
